10:00 Lecture 'The Contemporary urban space' Street photography was discussed and the following photographers listed (and a number discussed): Gary Winogrand; Lee Friedlander; Joel Meyerwitz; William Klein: Robert Frank :Diane Arbus
Mostly using 35mm with very layered images.

Winogrand-Leica pre-focused with a wide angle lens Prolific street photographer trying to understand the world via photography, interested to see how the world he knew "looked photographed" Multi layered images.

Stephen Shore-Nixon Era

Lee Friedlander-Images with no single point of focus, using obstructing features within the frame, also famous for his use of reflections (via windows and mirrors)

Joel Meyerwitz- Early use of colour in his images, exhibited at the 'MOMA' and recently famous for his WTC images. Started out using 35mm but progressed to large format

Phillip-Lorca dicorcia-Images taken of city dwellers on the street captured using pre-set up lighting to capture strangers without prior knowledge. Isolate people by using depth of field and like to "see the overlooked"

Melanie Manchot-'Groups and Locations' series constructed images using the 5x4 format

Gabriele Basilico-Deadpan 'New Objectivity' very matter of fact images, shot Beirut in the 1990s, very interested in the 'aftermath'

Thomas Struth-From the Dussledoph school (Bechers) Deadpan

Thomas Weinberger Large format with manipulated duel images using both day and night images combined (Dubai)

Sze Tsung Leon-(History Images Series)

Olivo Barbieri- Aerial images on large format using tilt shift to make cityscape's look like models

Naoya Hatakeyama- (River Series)

Ori Gersht-(Flowers-Wildflowers Series)

15:30 Tutorial for the Urban Space images: WIth groups mixed up we discussed our concepts and showed test shots for comment.

We had another task set to deconstruct Environmental Photographers Including: Rut Bless; Richard Wentworth; Vera Lutter. Completion date for the task is 5pm Tuesday 29th November
