Monday 5th March 2012 Photoshop Workshop 14:00 Digi lab
An addition to the timetable to address the gaps in student knowledge and promote best practice and ways of working.
Personally having hardly ever used Photoshop I was happy to attend and take any tuition in relation to Photoshop. I understand that for many students this may have been seen as very basic level training, but to those of us with no working knowledge of the software it was a welcome addition to the timetable.
We were reminded of the network folder system where we are to store work in progress (W.I.P.) only, the folders being deleted at the end of each semester (always back up all your work was the Important comment here)
Tools demonstrated and used were:
The Magnetic Lasso
Quick Selection Tool ( ) keys zoom in or out respectively within this tool
Magic Wand
We worked on creating masks and paths and a number of keyboard shortcuts were highlighted throughout the lesson. Shortcuts included: 'Spacebar and Apple key' = zoom in, 'Spacebar +Alt = Zoom Out, 'Spacebar and clicking + holding down the mouse' brings up the hand icon within an open image and allow you to navigate that imagine moving it across the screen.
